My Agency Won’t Give Me Access to My Google Ads — What to Do

If your agency won’t give you access to your own Google Ads account, that’s serious — it usually means the account sits inside their manager login, so your campaigns, history and data aren’t really yours.

How to take back control

  1. Find your account’s Customer ID (top right in Google Ads, a 10-digit number).
  2. Create your own Google Ads account under an email you control, if you don’t have one.
  3. Request admin access in writing — you should be an admin, never just a viewer.
  4. If they refuse, escalate to Google support; ownership of a self-managed account is your right.
  5. Keep your own logins to Google Ads, Analytics and your website — never hand over sole ownership again.
